In honor of Patriot Day, our GES students, led by Board Member Zachary Ramos, and with the help of the Parent Teacher Club, and GHS Ag Students, created a 9-11 Memorial Garden. The garden was composed of red, white, and blue flowers, planted into the image of the American Flag. The garden is situated in a prominent place on campus, in front of the flagpole in our quad.
We held an unveiling ceremony with members of the board, city council, Superintendent, and a member of the State Assembly. At this ceremony, we officially dedicated the Memorial Garden to those who tragically lost their lives and those who risked their lives to help others due to the attack on 9/11/2001. Then as an entire school we saluted the flag by reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.
The GES students will continue to keep the garden growing strong, and will be adding painted rocks to ensure that the colors of the flag will show through, even when the flowers are not in bloom.
